First: "Boogie Man: The Adventures of John Lee Hooker in the American Twentieth Century ", an absolute great book about the life of John Lee Hooker. But this book is more. It´s one of the best books about the Blues, I´ve ever read. It´s not only about John Lee Hooker, he is more the example of the history of the Blues. Personally I read this book with a pencis, to underline and mark the sentence I want to recognice or read again. It´s a must-have for Blues fand and it will give you chills. The second one is "Bill Wyman's Blues Odyssey: A Journey to Music's Heart & Soul" the best encyclopaedia about the Blues. It´s written by the ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyamn and get´s you not only about the detailed history of the Blues but about all the different styles, artists and recordings as well. And you get all the great little storys by Bill Wyman how played and recorded with the Who-is-who of Blues artists. This book is as well a must-have in your bookshelf when you´re a Blues fan. And you will read this book alot when you discover new Blues styles and artists and you want to know more of them. A great book!

In tough times like these, with war, terrorism and cold capitalism, even musicians won´t stay quite anymore.
Even when a lot of musicians are rather stay unpolitical, some musicans won´t keep their mouths shut anymore. They express their feelings and opinions through their music and they want to set a mark.
Rich Man´s War - New Blues & Roots Songs of Peace & Protest is the first sampler of this kind in the new century. With artiss like Guitar Shorty, Bob Brozman, Michael Hill, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwarter and others this CD has different music styles from Blues, Country and Roots music. And this compilation of styles and the lyrics made this CD so special! A CD really worth listening to!

Wow, this CD really got me. Carolyn Wonderland from Texas has a voice which reminds you on a tender Janis Joplin. Her music is a really great mixture of (Texas)Blues, Country and Roots/Folkmusicl
Her CD was produzed by the 9th time grammy winner Ray Benson. Carolyn Wonderland played live with Buddy Guy and Johnny Winter and won a lot of awards at the Housten Press Awards. And her CD proofes it right. Her voice, her guitar playing and her songwriting qualities made this CD really special. Check it out!!

If you got the first contact with this young female artist, you might ask yourself: Can a young female finnish Blues singer, really have the Blues?
Yes she can! ;-)
Erja Lyytinen played more then 150 concerts in Europe and is already a famous artist in her homeland, Finnland. I have seen her live and it´s really worth it. This young, beautiful guitar playing and singing artist sings about the Blues writes songs with great emotional storys and is really proofing her, as an artist.
She mixes Blues with R&B with her tender voice, her talented guitar playing, she really delivers a CD which is worth listening too. And you should really check out her website too see if you can see her live on stage!

5 years has been gone, since the last CD from Eric Sardinas. And now Eric Sardinas comes now with his new CD and his support band Big Motor to bring a fresh, bluesy rocking CD which really surprises you. The Slide guitar wizzard comes with a great CD with great songwriting and much power blasting through the speakers.
This CD is a lot of fun to listen too because of the rocking songs, the good lyrics and the slide guitar playing from the master himself. After his debut CD this instantly becomes one of my absolute favorite Eric Sardinas CDs. So check it out, you won´t regret it!!

Seasick Steve is a real talented Blues musician. He worked as migrant worker, lived on the street for years, was in prison... And he plays the Blues. And if you hear it, it will remind you of Legends like Robert Johnson. Very "old school" Blues on on hand, but modern and raugh at the same time on the other.
Seasick Steve plays his 3-string guitar with a slide and other sometimes self-made musicial equipment. His songs are about his lifetime experiences, like living on the street, sitting in jail for Christmas ... A lot of slide guitar, often with a lot of distortion. But acoustic and gently the next time.
If you don´t know Seasick Steve right now, you should really listen to his music and the songs and storys Steve tells. It´s worth it!

Following a lengthy struggle with cancer, Jeff Healey sadly passed away on Sunday 2nd March, on the eve of the release of his new blues rock album, his first in over 8 years.
Arguably one of the most distinctive blues-rock guitar players of our time, the new album is already regarded as a storming return to his blues-rock roots. The album was recorded late last year, with the musicians who regularly accompany the guitarist at Jeff Healey's Roadhouse in Toronto.
It´s really sad to see such great talent passes away so young. But his music will remain and we´ll remember! Rest in peace Jeff!

On this new CD from Joe Bonmassa he shows again his big talent. This CD has not only some typical Bluesrock songs, but also some great slowe acoustic songs and some have a mix of both where the acoustic parts blend into some heavy Bluesrock licks.
And with the title track "Sloe Gin" Joe created a new classic, because this song has so much energy and feeling. An absolut phenomenal song and CD!

Shannon Curfman is a really great young female Blues talent. She can really play the guitar and has a great voice. Several years passed by since her first CD (maybe she made her highschool graduation?), but now she released her new one: Fast Lane Addiction.
And again her guitar playing and her great voice made this CD so interessting. Both, her voice and guitar playing has improved in the last years since her first CD and you´ll get a real modern style Bluesrock CD with a young female talent.
She recently gave birth to her first child, but I hope she still finds the time and energy for her music.
